Tiny pumpkins, cosy cuddles, autumn adventures and just a little sprinkle of spooky magic - there's nothing quite like celebrating baby's first Halloween. Whether your little one is only a few weeks old or approaching their first birthday, Halloween looks a little different when there's a baby in the family. It's less about haunted houses and trick-or-treating, and much more about pumpkin patches, adorable outfits, family photos and creating traditions you'll look forward to every October. From cosy days at home to autumn adventures across the UK, we've rounded up 15 sweet Halloween ideas for babies under one. Think memory-making (not nightmare-inducing), with plenty of inspiration for celebrating your little pumpkin's very first spooky season. Why Baby's First Halloween Is So Special Your baby's first Halloween is one of those lovely "firsts" that deserves celebrating alongside their first Christmas, first birthday and first autumn. The best part? Babies don't need a big celebration to enjoy it. A cosy day wrapped up in autumn knitwear, a trip to a pumpkin patch or a few themed family photos are often the memories you'll treasure most. So embrace the pumpkins, the crunchy leaves and the cosy season - because this Halloween is one you'll never get back. 1. Dress Your Little Pumpkin in Their First Halloween Outfit Every baby's first Halloween needs an outfit that's equal parts adorable and comfortable. Our personalised Pumpkin Organic Sleepsuit is perfect for little ones celebrating their first spooky season, with soft organic cotton that's gentle enough for newborn skin. Personalised with their name, it's ideal for cosy Halloween cuddles, naps and fun photos. And for cooler autumn days? Layer it with our personalised Little Pumpkin Cardigan (in Oatmeal or Pink).  2. Visit a Pumpkin Patch Together Pumpkin patches have become one of the UK's favourite autumn family traditions. Whether you're heading to a local farm or travelling further afield (popular locations include Yorkshire, Kent, Cheshire or the Cotswolds), babies love the colours, textures and fresh autumn air. Don't forget to take plenty of photos among the pumpkins (our Pinterest board has plenty of inspiration). Some families take a "Little Pumpkin" milestone photo - taking one photo every Halloween in the same place each year. Watching them grow beside the pumpkins can be such a special family tradition. For a little extra, why not write a little letter to your baby about their first Halloween? You can tell them what they wore, their favourite toy at the time, any funny moments and family photos, too.  4. Read a Halloween Story Together Reading together before bedtime is the perfect cosy Halloween tradition. At a young age, swap spooky stories for sweet autumn books. Some lovely baby-friendly favourites include: That's Not My Pumpkin... We're Going on a Pumpkin Hunt Room on the Broom Pumpkin Soup Trick or Treat A Pumpkin for Peter If your baby is starting to really enjoy stories, why not choose a set of different Halloween or autumn books to read every evening during October? Buy one or two favourites and borrow the rest - your local library will have lots to choose from (psst! Our personalised Read, Snuggle and Hunt Pumpkin Gift Set is the perfect pick).  5. Make a Baby-Friendly Halloween Sensory Basket Fill a basket with autumn textures for supervised sensory play. A few ideas to include: Soft fabric or toy pumpkins  Pinecones (give them a brush to clean them first) Wooden spoons  Crinkly leaves (faux or real - just make sure they’re clean and dry) Orange, black and purple ribbons Soft toys that are autumn/woodland themed - think rabbits, owls, foxes, hedgehogs, etc. 6. Cuddle Up with a Pumpkin Friend Our personalised Pumpkin Soft Toy is made for baby's first Halloween cuddles. Soft, squashy and personalised with their name, it's the perfect seasonal companion for pram rides, bedtime stories and Halloween photos - and it becomes a cuddly keepsake to treasure every Halloween, too.  7. Make Tiny Pumpkin Handprints or Footprints Simple, easy and memorable. Tiny orange handprints make adorable pumpkins - just add the date and baby's age underneath for a keepsake you'll love looking back on. Alternatively, paint little feet with baby-safe orange paint and stamp them onto paper, then turn them into ‘pumpkins’ with little green stalks. It's messy… but wonderfully worth it. Why not frame baby’s special artwork or put it on the fridge with a magnet after?  8. Bake Pumpkin Treats Together For babies who have started solids, pumpkin is a brilliant autumn ingredient. Why not try: Pumpkin purée Pumpkin pancakes Soft pumpkin muffins Roasted pumpkin wedges It's a fun way to introduce seasonal flavours, and try your baby with new textures and recipes, too.  9. Have a Cosy Halloween Picnic If the weather is dry, why not lay out a blanket in the garden or in the park? To amp up the theme, add: Pumpkin-shaped sandwiches (use a cookie cutter to achieve the right shape) Apples, sliced and peeled if preferred  Baby snacks Warm drinks for grown-ups 10. Go on an Autumn Leaf Hunt Sometimes the simplest activity is the sweetest. Wrap up warm, head to the park and let your baby watch leaves floating down from the trees. This is especially enchanting for babies who are just starting to wake up to the world around them. For older babies, collecting colourful leaves during a family walk is a super fun activity and naturally sensory, too. Once everyone’s home, it’s time to get creative. After drying out your leaves, you can turn them into: Leaf crowns Leaf garlands Leaf animals Autumn artwork Perfect for rainy afternoons, crafting is a fun way to introduce your baby to their creative side.
