What we’re looking forward to this month

October 1, 2021Celebrate with us, Parenting, Things To Do

October is an exciting month for all! It marks the start of long walks in warm clothes, delicious recipes and all things spooky. However you enjoy spending your time during the autumn months, we’re sure to have something you’ll love or perhaps a new tradition for you to try out. Here’s our list of what we’re looking forward to in October and why it’s important to take time to enjoy this delightfully spooky season.

Autumnal activities

With October comes the beauty of the golden crunchy leaves, comfy jumpers and long walks in the autumn air. Families can spend quality time warming up little legs on long country walks or trips to the park as little ones enjoy cracking open the first fallen conkers of the year. Keep little heads and fingers warm this month with our knitted hat and mitt set for those chilly outdoor walks. Or you can take a trip to a nearby corn maze as little ones have the time of their life exploring the endless labyrinth. Treat them to our personalised dinosaur backpack for a gift that will keep a little explorers bits and bobs safe on their adventurous days out.

As the Harvesting season will be in full swing, take the family to a nearby farm where you can spend the day apple picking. Little ones will love to bring home the fruits of their labour and you can use the apples to bake into a tasty treat as a reward. Finally, pumpkin farms have popped up all over the UK over the last few years and children will love to get in the Halloween spirit as they pick the ultimate pumpkin to be carved. Wrap them up warm after a long day of finding the best pumpkin possible in this personalised intarsia striped blanket to keep them snug throughout the day.

Baking week

The week commencing 14th October marks the start of National Baking Week 2021! Celebrate this glorious week by baking as many tasty treats as you possibly can and make sure to get your little one’s involved. Kids can take inspiration from our personalised afternoon tea play set which includes an assortment of delicious treats, just ready to be eaten. Pies, cakes, crumbles, and tarts… they’ve all got our attention, especially when stuffed with autumn flavours like pumpkin and apple. You can even practice your Halloween recipes in preparation for the end of the month. Eerie eyeball cake pops, candy apples and creepy crawly cupcakes are just some of our suggestions for Halloween goodies this month. Add a mini masterchef’s name to our personalised chef’s play set to inspire their baking talents for years to come.

Clocks going back

At 2:00am on Halloween this year ( 31st October), the clocks will go back. Even though this change marks the official end of summer and no more long or warm days, there is a guaranteed benefit – we all get an extra hour in bed! Psst parents, be sure to make the most of that blissful extra hour in bed and your little ones can enjoy an extra hour of fancy dress. Our personalised wooden bear clock puzzle is a great gift to teach little ones how to tell the time and remind them that they get an extra hour in bed that morning!

October birthdays

Babies born from September 23rd – October 22nd are born under the sign of Libra, known for their friendly and well-balanced personalities. However Scorpio season begins on October 23rd, blessing those born during this time with winning passionate, loyal and curious characteristics. Celebrate your little one’s birthday with our best-selling personalised hooded fleece robe to keep them warm during the colder months. They can snuggle up to their new personalised bunny friend after a long day of play or even take them along for the fun on their amazing adventures with our new roarsome lion backpack.

Halloween!

On the last day of the month comes the time to celebrate all things spooky. This is perhaps the most acceptable time of year for little ones to consume as much sugar as they please as they dress up in all sorts of adorable outfits. For easy dress-up, style a little one up in one of our dreamy dressing gowns. They can be a roaring lion for the day with our lion fleece robe, or a daring dinosaur in our dinosaur robe. Make Halloween extra magical with our adorable unicorn dressing gown or they could even become their favourite character to trick or treat in with our Dumbo or Winnie the Pooh robes.
