Twas the day before Christmas and all over the house, everyone was excited – even for sprouts! If you are looking for new ways to celebrate this year, bring the magic of Christmas forward a few hours with a Christmas Eve box. This tradition originated in Germany, where presents are opened on Christmas Eve. You can fill your box with whatever goodies and little gifts you want to to get the Christmas party started. If you’re not sure where to start, keep reading for our favourite things to fill up our Christmas Eve box. Bonus points: they’re all personalised!
Whether they’re old enough for independent reading or always on the lookout for a brilliant new bedtime story, you can never go wrong with a book. Inspire a little one for the year ahead with stories from the Little People, Big Dreams, which retell the lives of ordinary children who grew up to achieve extraordinary things.
One of the best things about Christmas is arguably the food, so treat a little elf to their favourite. Think chocolate lollipops, gold coins or maybe a mini mince pie. After all, what’s a Christmas Eve movie night without something yummy to munch?
After all, Santa knows when you’re awake! Encourage your little one to actually go to sleep on Christmas night with a new set of pyjamas. Keep them cosy and warm in a classic check set, feel festive in a pair of reindeer pyjamas or a special set for their 1st Christmas.
Any parent knows that keeping a toddler away from screens before bed is a challenge at the best of times. When they can use that screen to track Santa’s travels across the globe, it’s nearly impossible. Include something in their Christmas Eve box to distract them from the iPad, such as a puzzle. Teach them to recognise shapes with a Dinosaur or woodland animals puzzle, engage their minds with a sweet citrus fraction puzzle or number puzzle and bring their dreams to life with an amazing monster or fairy tale puzzle.
Like most things around this time of year, a Christmas Eve Box is another opportunity for some more fun. If you decide to put one together this year for your family, please tag us @My1stYears #My1stYears so we can see how you fill yours!
