What to do between Christmas and New Year 2020

December 26, 2019Uncategorised

It’s an age old question that pops up every year after Christmas Day: what do we do now? Most of us are lucky enough to have some time off until New Year, so what can you do to make the most of the Christmas Limbo? We’ve rounded up the best of what’s on in London and beyond to keep the kids – and you – entertained until 2020.

Enjoy Ice Skating

3

Whether you choose the iconic Natural History Museum Ice Rink, the more dramatic Tower of London or the original Somerset House SKATE, there are plenty of slots left across London. All locations will close in January so get your skates on!

Savour a Mince Pie

1-1

Before they disappear from our shops (but not our hearts) for another year, make the most of 2019’s Mince Pie season. Sample ultra-traditional shortcrust offerings at Gail’s Bakery, try Konditor & Cook‘s imperceptibly vegan bakes or go wild for Popham‘s ingenious mincemeat filled croissant-cup hybrid. There is something for even the fussiest of Mince Pie fans to enjoy.

Visit a Gingerbread City

2

This year, the Museum of Architecture is home to a unique exhibition of model towns, crafted entirely from Gingerbread. Entrants include the architects behind iconic London structures such as The Gherkin, Wembley Stadium and Chelsea Barracks. The designs are as intricate as they are inventive, making this the perfect trip to inspire budding young designers.

Walk in a Winter Wonderland

4

A firm family favourite, Hyde Park Winter Wonderland boasts family-favourite shows and thrill-seeking rides for a guaranteed fun day-out. You can even check out our very own My 1st Years Igloo pop-up where you can pick up your favourite personalised gifts and children can win wonderful free prizes! If that’s not for you, there are plenty of Christmas Markets all over London (think South Bank, Greenwich, Camden) and beyond (Manchester and Edinburgh are particular favourites) where you can enjoy the final festive days of the year.
