Getting creative in the garden with Pop Up and Play

April 2, 2020How to, Lifestyle, Parenting, Things To Do, Uncategorised

What a time for the weather to have got nicer?! The sun is shining and due to the global pandemic rather than heading to the play parks or on trips as a family to the coast we are spending the majority of our time keeping safe inside the home with our children. That is why we have collaborated with our friends at Pop up and Play Co.  to show you this fun activity to do with little ones.

We know you probably feel like you have played every game you know, made every craft on Pinterest and read every book on the shelf but we want to provide you with simple yet effective activities to do with your children during this difficult time, and if it keeps them occupied and not jumping on the sofas for just five minutes, well then we have done our jobs! This is the perfect activity for getting those little ones to enjoy some fresh air in the garden or on your daily exercise outing that we have all grown to rely on!

You will need:

> Paper & Printer (if you don’t have a printer don’t worry!)
> Colouring pencils
> Natural foliage
> Glue

What to do:

1. Print the downloadable template onto A4 paper.  Don’t worry, if you don’t have a printer feel free to get creative and draw a face of your own onto some paper…
2. Spend some time in your garden or outdoor space, or cast your eye whilst taking your daily exercise. Look for anything natural which you’re drawn to. Twigs, seedlings, fallen blossom petals or leaves. We don’t want to take anything living, just pieces which are already on the floor. Dried flowers also work wonderfully for this activity.
3. Use the colouring pencils to colour any parts of the picture you would like to stand out.
4. Start arranging the foliage you’ve collected around the picture and be sure you’re happy with the arrangement before you stick it down.

Once you’ve made your little friend get creative and decorate even more designs with foliage and leaves!
We can’t wait to see what you create…
