Christmas Photoshoot with Rays of Sunshine | My 1st Years

November 13, 2018Behind The Scenes, Photoshoots, Uncategorised

Christmas is a time for giving and here at My 1st Years we are passionate about giving! Although usually for us that means telling you all about the most precious personalised gifts, today we would like to show you the work we have been doing with our charity partner Rays of Sunshine.

Rays of Sunshine are an amazing charity who grant wishes for children living with serious or life limiting illnesses, giving these children and their families happy memories and special moments. So, this Christmas we teamed up with the charity to offer five amazing children a fun-filled photoshoot they can treasure forever. We got to meet five fabulous little ladies all aged between 3 and 5 who were full of fun, smiles and energy on the day of our London photoshoot.

Cora (3), from North London, was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma, a type of Brain Tumour, in 2016 at only 18 months old. Since then, she’s had brain surgery, intense chemotherapy and spent months in hospital. Despite everything she’s gone through, Cora is positive and strong young girl who loves life and her family. Rays of Sunshine have granted her wish to have a set of private one-to-one swimming lessons.

Isla-Beaux (5), from Luton, is currently going through treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and has had to endure intense chemotherapy treatment. During her time in hospital, she had to spend four months in isolation. One of the only things that got her through this difficult time was being able to watch many of her favourite Disney movies. Her best friend from hospital is Etnie, who is also having a wish granted by Rays of Sunshine. Isla-Beaux and Etnie are hoping to fulfil their wishes together and go to Disneyland Paris with their families.

Etnie (5), from Essex, is currently going through treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. She has had to undergo chemotherapy, extreme medication and steroids and because of this, has limited energy. Despite spending most of her time in hospital, Etnie is a very happy child who loves to play make-believe and princess dress-ups with her mum and sister, Myla (2). Her wish is currently in progress with Rays of Sunshine and is to go to Disneyland Paris with her entire family.

Isla (3), from Hertfordshire, is currently having treatment for Neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that forms in nerve tissue. Despite having gone through intensive treatment for her illness, Isla is a happy child who loves to spend time with her family. She especially loves the magic of Christmas but has missed out on family traditions for the last two years whilst receiving treatment. Isla’s wish is currently in progress with Rays of Sunshine and is to go to Lapland UK and enjoy a festive time with her family.

Ella-Rose (5), from Enfield, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in 2015 and has gone through five rounds of intensive chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. She will be continually monitored by Great Ormond Street Hospital to ensure her cancer does not return and to monitor any long-term side effects of her treatment. Despite everything she’s gone through at such a young age, Ella-Rose is very positive and loves everything princess-related as well as singing and dancing. In 2017, Rays of Sunshine granted her greatest wish to go to Lapland in Finland with her entire family to meet Santa Claus and his reindeers.
