We caught up with the PR and Marketing Consultant for Pitti Immagine, who run the coolest children’s fashion show (Pitti Bimbo) in the world – The show features catwalks and stalls from some of the biggest designers in Children’s fashion and for trade and press to attend and see.
We asked Giuliana for the biggest trends and her favourite picks from us for Spring 2017, so you can be sure to dress your little fashionista in style.
What are the 3 biggest children’s fashion trends for Spring Summer ’17?
We have seen three strong themes in kidswear this spring:
The first is the jungle, both clothing and prints are inspired by dense, luxuriant plants and banana leaves that become even larger this season than ever, creating an adventurous mood for little ones.
Next would be stripes, It’s the print that never gets old whether they’re the same or different widths, regular, or crazy, stripes are a must this season and even trendier when mixed with florals.
The final trend has to be Ethnic, batik prints, strong, intense colours, Greek-key designs, stylized animals, embroidery, pom-poms, and cheerful inspiration from faraway places – the list is endless but oh so beautiful.
What are the key colours for little boys and girls for the season?
Green is the new colour for the year, from deeper sage to soft mint, Spring colours are always inspired by nature.
If Mums should invest in one item for their child’s wardrobe this season what should it be?
I think the most important item is a bag that is not just useful for little ones but you too. Baby bags used to just be a practical thing but now you can get such gorgeous prints, styles and monogrammed bags they’re now stylish too.
Florals are one of our favourite prints in spring – what are the best ways to style them for the new season?
It’s nice to add something bright and luminous to sweet ditsy florals. This season try teaming romantic floral prints with a touch of glitter and stardust.
Who should we follow for children’s fashion inspiration?
There are so many sources for children’s fashion inspiration, it no longer has to just be about what is practical! Look at Instagram, Pinterest, your child’s drawings…and of course Pitti’s website!
If you were buying for a child from My 1st Years, what would you choose?
There are so many lovely items on the site! I’m not a Mum, but if I were, I’d let have to let my kid choose what they wanted to make it even more personal!
